Hello Everyone,
HOMEWORK DUE AND CLASS CANCELED FOR WED:
Due to unforeseen circumstances, class is canceled this Wednesday. I have a family emergency that I must attend to and it will take me away from class.
Because of this, your assignment for this week is to post your song idea and music video idea underneath Monday's blog post. If you can, put a link to your music video below to youtube.com. Put the song title, the name of the artist, the music video, and the director of the music video below. This blog post is due by Wednesday by 9pm. Check for my replies on the blog to see if your music video/song has been approved.
Your assignment, due Monday, is filling out the questions in the Music Video section below. Remember, not all of the questions may apply, but answer them to the best of your ability. Don't go for short answers, try to be descriptive as possible.
(My absence does not excuse those of you who have late papers. Turn in your late paper at the office. Go to the front desk and ask them to stamp it and put in my mailbox).
PROJECT FOUR CLARIFICATION:
Check out the project 4 assignment sheet on the right. You are to create/join a group and present on one of the 8 different drama shows listed on the side-bar. Each of these drama shows will be used for writing about Project 3 (a paper about drama that compares and contrasts two television shows).

August 3: Project 3: (Group 5&6 Presents)
August 6: Project 3: (Group 7&8 Presents)
August 10: Project 3 Rough Draft/Peer Review
August 12: Project 3 DUE/Last Day of Class

eja5686: when you assign homework, you assign them something to read, write, or bring into class, similar to what I do in class. Almost always your assignment will be a part of the quiz the next day, so keep that in mind. What you assign them is up to you.
Daron: Britney Spears is fine. Actually, type in "Chuck Klosterman" and "Britney Spears" and you'll find an interesting article about her and her work.
Trav.eye: Jeremy is a great video. I look forward to reading your interpretation of the lyrics. I love Pearl Jam, but I know very little about the band and meaning behind their songs, so I'm interested in reading your interpretation.
Ronnie: your worksheet is due printed out. Print out the questions and answer them the best that you can. I will check to see if you have it completed.

Julie: faithfully is a great song. Just a thought, but maybe you can incorporate the new lead singer Arnel Pineda into the mix. He was discovered by the band in the Philippines because his youtube clip was found by the band and was made the lead singer.

Alina: Viva la Vida would be a great video to use. It is based on a the famous french painting of Liberty Leading the People, which is also the inspiration for our own Statue of Liberty. There is some interesting readings of the song talking about liberty and freedom in the context of the political climate of George Bush, but also in the overall politics of America. It is very rich in many possible readings.
Ronnie Cox: I love this song. I'd like to recommend the very odd music video with Justin Timberlake lip-synching to the song. eja5686: Nas's I Can is a great video. I always liked Nas. And his use of the Honeydipper's "Impeach the President" as well as "Fur Elise" should also be explored, because it does form the backdrop to a very positive song about african american culture.
Nice clip. Now I feel like I have to see the movie to which it belongs. Did you recommend it for me to write about or just to add to my essay on top of the original video?
ReplyDeleteRonnie: That was just a recommendation. You don't have to add it to your essay. I thought that there would be more meat to the odd Justin Timberlake version than in the original video, but it is completely up to you.
